On March 6, 2014, our group was privileged to be received at City Hall by the Mayor of Liverpool Gary Millar , who served us promptly at 10:30 am with a lot of attention, politeness, courtesy and friendliness.

We had commented on our work to bring Beatles fans to Liverpool, the reason why we were received by him, showing the importance of our work. After we exchange some emails, we set a date and time to visit him with the help of Tanya Baucher and Rose Owen.

I was with Edmea Mallagoli and friends Eduardo, Silvia and Raquel Melo, ready to get to know the city hall and the Mayor of Liverpool, Gary Millar.

After a very friendly and interesting to chat, in which we exchange ideas, he had to say goodbye because he had other commitments, and left us in the company of a gentleman named Steve, an excellent guide and knowledgeable of the history of the building and its rooms, and also a Beatles fan. Steve made magic on our visit because, being blind, he showed us all the rooms telling their stories and curiosities, a real lesson about Liverpool.

Another highlight was the visit to the balcony where the Beatles, in August 1964, were received by the mayor and honored by the townspeople, who left the streets around the City Hall building completely crowded. It was a delusion and folly, to the local police, to contain fans, as usual. We were on the balcony and felt a little of that energy of our Beatles, plus the privilege of stepping into the same place as them.

Another highlight was the room where the Beatles were received and, then, honored with a dinner, a place Steve was keen to show us and tell more details of this famous visit.

We lived exciting moments that we’ll hold forever with us, and we had the chance to feel even closer to our beloved Beatles.
